PRN Wellness Attendant
Job Title: Wellness Attendant

Department: Wellness Center

Job Summary: The Wellness Attendant provides friendly, professional, and responsive customer service to Wellness Center members, hospital visitors, patients, and staff. This position serves as a primary point of contact by greeting individuals, answering telephone calls, providing directions, enrolling new members, conducting facility tours, and assisting members with the proper use of fitness equipment.

The Wellness Attendant is also responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming Wellness Center environment. The Wellness Attendant also demonstrates patience, attentiveness, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to creating a positive experience for every person served.

Job Qualifications:

A. Education: High School graduate or equivalent.

B. Job-Related Skills: Effective verbal and written communication and customer service skills. Must demonstrate a courteous, helpful, and professional attitude when assisting members, patients, visitors, and staff. Familiarity with basic computer systems and general clerical duties. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, maintain confidentiality, and respond appropriately to member and visitor needs.

C. Licensure, Registry or Certification: Current CPR/AED certification preferred. Must maintain all required certifications throughout employment.

D. Technical Training: None required.

E. Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require intermittent walking and standing. Some bending, stooping and reaching is required with the lifting of items up to a weight of 40 pounds. The ability to comprehend and follow routine written or verbal instructions or directions. Must be able to manage multiple responsibilities while remaining attentive and responsive to customer needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

A. Answering multi-line telephone:

1. Answer each call promptly, courteously and professionally.

2. Determine the caller’s needs and direct the call to the appropriate person or department.

3. Provides clearly written messages to all specified employees when a call cannot be completed.

B. Greets and assists visitors:

1. Promptly acknowledges and welcomes visitors and determines the assistance needed.

2. Routes visitors to appropriate place or person.

3. Maintains a friendly, helpful, and customer-focused attitude during all interactions.

4. Address member concerns courteously and refer unresolved concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

C. Gym Duties:

1. Give welcoming and informative tours of the gym area.

2. Show members the gym equipment and explain its proper use.

3. Assist with new member enrollment and answer questions regarding Wellness Center services and procedures.

4. Check and document pool temperature upon arrival and before leaving, in accordance with Wellness Center procedures.

5. Walk through to make sure gym is clean and organized.

6. Fold and put up gym towels.

7. Sweep gym area as needed.

8. Answer any gym questions members may have or help a member with gym equipment.

9. Routinely observe exercise areas and equipment for safety concerns and promptly report damaged, malfunctioning, or unsafe equipment.

10. Respond appropriately to accidents, injuries, or medical emergencies in accordance with Hospital District policies and procedures.

D. Technical skills:

1. Ability to accurately enter information from verbal instructions, forms, and other documentation.
2. Ability to utilize CPSI, the badging system, and other applicable computer programs.
3. Ability to operate standard office equipment, including printers.

Other Significant Requirements:

A. Maintain HIPAA required and all other confidentiality while working with confidential matters daily.

B. Provides direct service to patients, members, and visitors while maintaining a positive customer and patient relations atmosphere.
C. Follows safety and infection control policies for the Hospital.

D. Respects the privacy of patients’ needs in all contacts.

E. Monitors the need for quality improvements and participates in the Hospital District Quality Improvement Program.

F. Attends mandatory meetings.

G. Flexibility with schedule changes and times.
