Full Time Housekeeper
Job Summary: performs duties involved in cleaning and sanitizing furnishings and areas assigned. OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Cass I.
Job Qualifications:
A. Education: High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
B. Personal Job-Related Skills: Ability to read and write.
C. Licensure, Registry or Certification: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and meet Jackson County Hospital District’s requirements for operating a District-owned or authorized vehicle.
D. Experience:
1. Prior Work Experience: Entry Level position.
2. Technical Training: None required.
E. Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require extended periods of walking and standing. Lifting to 50 pounds and pushing and pulling carts with weights up to 300 pounds. Pushing and pulling of carts, bending, stooping, and reaching in storing supplies, and cleaning activities. The ability to comprehend and follow written or verbal instructions of directions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms and nursing floor areas.
1. Cleans bathrooms and basins.
2. Dusts furniture and dusts and wet mops floors.
3. Stocks bathroom with expendable supplies
4. Cleans day room, and nursing station, utility rooms, and exam rooms.
5. Cleans patient room after patient is discharged or transferred as stipulated in established procedures.
B. Cleans assigned area of the hospital:
1. Cleans furniture, fixtures, and hospital surfaces.
2. Cleans floor by dry or wet mopping, sweeping, waxing ad buffing, and disinfection when necessary.
3. Cleans carpeting by vacuuming and by shampooing when necessary.
4. Follows established cleaning schedule.
5. Cleans walls, windows, doors, and ceiling.
6. Empties and cleans waste receptacles and removes trash to a designated collection area.
C. Provides clean, sanitary dispersion of linen for patient use.
1. Unpacks all linen and stores it on properly marked shelves in the linen room.
2. Separates linen into packs made up for patient use and sealed in plastic bags.
3. Delivers packs to patients room every morning.
D. Assists with other department functions.
1. Collects biomedical waste according to proper disposal and the biomedical waste policy
2. Collects dirty linen from designated departments and stores it in the designated departments and stores it in the designated collection area.
3. Restocks supplies in patients’ rooms and all areas.
4. Cleans the housekeeping cart and restocks it.
5. Restocks linen in all areas.
6. Performs routine cleaning of surgery as needed.
Other Significant Requirements:
A. Follows aseptic procedures and procedures of using precautions when involved in direct patient contact or handling potentially in infectious materials.
B. Follows safety and infection control policies and guidelines for the Hospital.
C. Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matter daily.
D. Maintains a proper customer service attitude in contacts with patients, visitors, and other staff members
E. Monitors the need for quality improvements and participate in the Hospital District Quality Improvement Program.
F. Meets applicable MCS/Medicare standards.
G. Follows hazardous chemical procedures for proper handling and mixing.
