Meet Bridget Hubenak, PA-C

A Ganado native specializing in family medicine, Bridget Hubenak, PA-C, is proud to care for patients in the place she has always called home. After completing her medical training, she returned to Ganado to be near loved ones and raise her child in the town she knows and loves.

Hubenak began her healthcare career as a respiratory therapist, a role she held for five years before deciding she wanted to take a more active part in patient advocacy, education, and medical decision-making. She earned her B.S. in Respiratory Care from Texas State University and later completed her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia.

Her experience as a physician assistant includes both primary care and cardiology. While working in cardiac care, Hubenak developed an even greater appreciation for preventive medicine, patient education, and the role healthy lifestyle choices can play in reducing chronic illness. Returning to family medicine gives her the opportunity to help patients better understand their health, their treatment options, and the steps they can take to support their long-term well-being.

Her commitment to patient education is also personal. After losing her mother unexpectedly as a child and later watching her father navigate stage IV renal cancer, Hubenak saw firsthand how difficult it can be for patients and families to understand a diagnosis and treatment plan. Those experiences helped shape her goal of making sure patients understand not only what is happening with their health, but also why specific treatments or recommendations are being made.

At Jackson County Hospital District, Hubenak values the collaboration among local primary care providers and specialists, as well as the continuity of care available within a close-knit healthcare system. Living and working in Ganado also allows her to build lasting relationships with the people she serves and contribute to the health of her hometown community.

Outside of work, Hubenak enjoys spending time with her husband and son, camping, traveling, running, exercising outdoors, and raising chickens with her family. She and her husband also participate in local competition barbecue cook-offs. An avid adventurer, she hiked the Grand Canyon from the North Rim to the South Rim in 25 hours in July 2021.
