Meet Jared Nielson, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Specializing in family medicine, Jared Nielson, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, values the opportunity to care for patients of all ages and build lasting relationships with the people he serves. Originally from the small farming community of Tremonton in northern Utah, he now lives in Victoria and appreciates working in an area that reminds him of his hometown.

Nielson has dedicated more than two decades to healthcare, beginning as a volunteer before advancing through roles as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Registered Nurse to his current practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Along the way, he gained experience in medical-surgical care, day surgery, emergency medicine, oncology, men’s health, urology, and caring for veterans.

Although his clinical background spans several specialties, Nielson finds the greatest professional fulfillment in family medicine. Caring for patients throughout different stages of life gives him the opportunity to develop strong, enduring relationships while providing thoughtful, individualized care.

His path into medicine was not the one he originally envisioned. Growing up on a family farm, Nielson expected to continue his family’s agricultural tradition. As his plans changed, however, he discovered a calling in healthcare and ultimately built a career centered on serving others.

At Jackson County Hospital District, Nielson has enjoyed developing meaningful connections with patients, community members, and local partners. He also hopes to become more involved in efforts that support childhood literacy, including exploring opportunities to help provide books to pediatric patients during clinic visits. Professionally, he is a member of the Utah Nurse Practitioner Association, Texas Nurse Practitioner Association, and Victoria Area Nurse Practitioner Association.

Outside of work, Nielson enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. He also collects and works on knives, a hobby he has developed over the years. A two-year volunteer church mission in Australia helped deepen his faith and commitment to service. Nielson is also a proud husband, father of three daughters, and grandfather of three grandsons.
