Holiday Assistance Program
The holiday season is a time for giving, gathering, and making memories with the people who matter most. But for some families in our community, financial hardships, unexpected expenses, or medical challenges can make the holidays difficult.
For more than 20 years, the team at Jackson County Hospital District has brought a little extra joy to local households through our Angel Tree Gift and Holiday Meal Assistance Program. With the support of our community, we hope to help families enjoy a more comfortable holiday season and create special memories with their loved ones.
You can help make a difference by nominating a deserving individual or family for assistance.
What Type of Assistance is Available?
Thanksgiving Meal Assistance
Selected households will receive ingredients to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, including the turkey, stuffing mix, gravy, cranberry sauce, green beans, mashed potatoes, dinner rolls, and a pie.
Christmas Meal Assistance
Ten households will receive ingredients for a holiday meal featuring a delicious, spiral-sliced ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, dinner rolls, and a pecan pie. (Deadline for nomination submissions is December 10, 2026)
Angel Tree Gifts
Help bring smiles to children, the elderly or families who could use a little extra holiday cheer. Nominations may include children, elderly or other unfortunate community members who are experiencing financial hardship or other challenging circumstances. (Deadline for submissions is December 1, 2026)
Who Should be Nominated?
We welcome nominations for individuals and families who may be experiencing circumstances such as:
- Injury or severe illness
- Loss of employment or reduced household income
- Single-parent households facing financial challenges
- Unexpected family hardships or emergencies
- Fixed-income households struggling with rising expenses
- Other circumstances that may make the holidays especially difficult
You may nominate someone you know personally or someone whose circumstances have come to your attention through your work, volunteer activities, or involvement in the community.
How do I Submit Nominations?
You do not need to wait for someone to ask for help to make a difference. If you know an individual or family who could benefit from holiday assistance, we encourage you to submit a nomination form.
Step 1
Complete a nomination form with the household's contact information and the type of assistance requested.
Step 2
Share any relevant information that will help us understand the household's circumstances and needs.
Step 3
Submit the completed online application. You may also print an application from JCHD.org or pick up a paper copy at the following:
- Jackson County Hospital District's Reception Desk
- Jackson County Medical Clinic of Edna
- Jackson County Medical Clinic of Ganado
- Jackson County Home Health Front Desk
Paper forms may be mailed, dropped off at the hospital's marketing department or scanned and emailed to jbarefield@jchd.org. The hospital's mailing address is 1013 S. Wells St., Edna, TX 77957.
Help Us Share the Holiday Spirit
The strength of our community comes from the people who care for one another. A holiday meal can bring families together around the table, and a thoughtfully chosen gift can remind a child that someone cares.
Through the Jackson County Hospital District Foundation, we hope to make the season a little brighter for neighbors who need extra support.
Know someone who could use a helping hand this holiday season? Please consider nominating them. Together, we can help make the holidays warmer, brighter, and more meaningful for families throughout Jackson County.
