12. Monitors patients during recovery from anesthesia or sedation, including level of consciousness, airway status, respiratory effort, oxygen saturation, cardiac status, blood pressure, pain level, nausea, bleeding, and overall stability.

Job Skills:Knowledge of radiologic equipment and procedures. Additional modality knowledge and proficiency are preferred and encouraged which would include CT, Mammography, Ultrasound and MRI.

Requirements: Duties require moderate standing, walking, twisting, reaching, and handling of instruments and equipment. The ability to lift fifty (50) pounds and occasional heavy lifting are also necessary for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Radiology Technologist will have certain essential duties and responsibilities for which he/she will be monitored and evaluated on an annual basis. These duties and responsibilities will be conducted under the direction of the Radiology Department Manager, Radiologist, or other Physician.
1. Provides procedures as directed by the ordering physician in accordance with accepted procedure protocols established by the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).
2. Follows established procedures to assure quality of services and timely reporting of results.
3. Follows established proper protocol for the administration of contrast media to patients. Follows established protocol for the reporting of all contrast media reactions.
4. Follows established protocols for ensuring that requested procedures are performed on the proper patient.
5. Instructs patients in proper advanced preparation for exams, as needed.
6. Transports patients to and from the department. If patient is unable to be transported, portable equipment will be brought to the patient, when applicable, and proper shielding protocols will be used to protect those that may be in the immediate area of radiation exposure.
7. Ensures that equipment control settings are adjusted to properly obtain optimal images.
8. Verifies correct exam is being performed that films are properly marked and are properly identified with pertinent patient information and correct exam is being performed.
9. Provides for appropriate care for all patients according to the patient’s age and mental status. Assures that equipment necessary for patient safety and comfort are always utilized.
10. Utilizes department supplies and equipment in a proper manner to ensure patient safety and proper function of the Radiology Department. This includes cleaning of equipment between patient use and practicing Universal Precautions with all supplies and equipment.
11. Performs quality control procedures on equipment as dictated by equipment manufacturers’ recommendations. Notifies Department Manager of any results which could affect patient care or proper use of equipment.
12. Follows established protocols for reporting the need for equipment repairs and informs departments that will be impacted by the unavailability of equipment and establish approximate availability time.
13. Maintains records of patient visits and statistics as directed by the Department Manager.
14. Files paperwork and provides copies of films as needed.
15. Records and provides charges for procedures performed.
16. Prepares and maintains patient and department records and reports as needed.
17. Attends periodic meetings to review issues identified under the quality assurance plan and works to facilitate resolutions to any issues deemed necessary.
18. Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and practices in accordance with JCHD policies and procedures.
19. Follows established proper Infection Control policies in accordance with those established by the hospital’s Infection Control Manager.
20. Promotes positive patient relations as well as positive intradepartmental relations.

D.	Trauma Program Manager: The Trauma Program Manager is responsible for the organization, management, and direction of the trauma program within a hospital or healthcare system. This position ensures that the facility complies with the standards set by DSHS or other relevant accrediting bodies. The TPM coordinates all aspects of trauma care, including prevention, education, clinical care, research, and quality improvement initiatives.

1.	Works closely with the Trauma Medical Director, Hospital Medical Staff, Administrator, Department Directors, Director of Nursing and Nursing staff to coordinate all aspects of trauma care.

2.	Participates in and coordinates all aspects (chart review, meetings, performance improvement of the trauma program).

3.	Assures compliance with Federal, State or other regulations or standards pertaining to trauma care.

E.	Emergency Preparedness Coordinator.  The Hospital Emergency Preparedness Coordinator develops, implements, and oversees the hospital’s emergency preparedness and response plans. This role is essential in ensuring the hospital can effectively respond to various emergencies while maintaining the safety of patients, staff, and visitors. The coordinator collaborates with hospital departments, external agencies, and community organizations to coordinate comprehensive emergency plans, training, and drills.

1.	Plan Development &amp; Implementation:

a.	Develop and maintain comprehensive emergency preparedness plans, including response procedures for natural disasters, infectious disease outbreaks, mass casualty incidents, and other potential emergencies.
b.	Ensure the emergency plans align with federal, state, and local regulations and accreditation standards (e.g., CIHQ, CMS).

2.	Risk Assessment:

a.	Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential threats to the hospital and its operations.
b.	Implement mitigation strategies to reduce the impact of identified risks.

3.	Training &amp; Drills:

a.	Organize and conduct training programs for hospital staff on emergency response procedures, including evacuation, lockdown, and communication protocols.
b.	Plan, execute, and evaluate regular emergency drills, including tabletop exercises and full-scale simulations, to test the hospital’s preparedness.

4.	Coordination &amp; Communication:

a.	Serve as the primary point of contact for emergency preparedness within the hospital, coordinating efforts across all departments.
b.	Liaise with local, state, and federal emergency management agencies, healthcare coalitions, and other community organizations to ensure integrated and coordinated response efforts.
c.	Maintain up-to-date communication systems for use during emergencies, including incident command systems and emergency notification systems.

5.	Compliance &amp; Documentation:

a.	Ensure all emergency preparedness activities comply with relevant regulations and standards.
b.	Maintain detailed records of training, drills, risk assessments, and response activities.

1.	Prepares and transmits insurance claims to insurance companies.
2.	Prepares claims for supplemental insurance indicating amount due from Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial and other carriers, and charges for non-covered days and expenses.
3.	Processes electronic claims submissions.
4.	Performs follow-up on filed insurance claims.

B.	Receives and processes payments from insurance and patients by check, cash, direct deposit, or credit card
1.	Identifies amount of payment and prepares a receipt for patient.
2.	Insures payment information is processed so that proper application to the patient&apos;s account can be made.
3.	Accepts payments and provides assistance to patients with account questions.

C.	Responds to correspondence
1.	Responds to questions from insurance companies, patients and other hospital departments regarding billing.
2.	Sends out letters to patients when insurance company is requesting additional information.

D.	Checks account status

1.	Contacts insurance companies to check status of accounts.
2.	Performs follow-up action on rejections and questionnaires from insurance companies.

E.	Posts accounts
1.	Posts receipts and adjustments to all accounts.
2.	Posts receipts to bad debt accounts.
3.	Posts all contractuals to accounts receivables.

F.	Performs cash control
1.	Balances daily cash postings.
2.	Prepares daily deposits.

G.	Accounts for and deposits patients payments received
1.	Reconciles funds received with receipts.
2.	Reconciles cash boxes when required and audits petty cash.

H.	Prepares reports and maintains files

•	Collaborate with department leaders to create informative content (print materials, advertisements, and digital content for campaigns, etc.) for patients and the community, which include promoting hospital services, programs, and events.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.

B. Personal Job-Related skills: Demonstrated ability in nursing practice. Effective oral and written communication skills.

C. Licensure, Registry or Certification: Registered Nurse currently licensed by the State of Texas. BCLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications. TNCC within one year.

D. Experience:

    Prior Work Experience: One year of experience as a professional Registered Nurse preferred.
    Technical Training: Current CPR certification. ACLS, PALS, and TNCC within one year of hire.

E. Physical and Mental Requirements: Duties of the position require extended periods of standing and walking. Bending, stooping, twisting, reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds. Occasional heavy lifting

when moving or supporting patients who may suddenly become weak or helpless.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Utilizing the nursing process completes a comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessment of patients.

1. Takes nursing histories to provide a basis for developing patient care plans.

2. Completes a thorough nursing assessment and history on admission.

3. Identifies teaching/learning/discharge needs at time of admission and throughout hospitalization.

4. Provides an ongoing assessment which accurately reflects over physiological and psychosocial needs of patients.

5. Consistently uses input from patient, family, significant other, physician, and health care team members.

6. Provides care appropriate for the neonate and the pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients served based on demonstrated knowledge of the principle of growth and development over the life span.

7. Assesses and interprets data on neonate and the pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patient’s status to identify patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs and provides care needed as stipulated in departmental policy.

B. Using nursing process, plans and provides patient/family care; and evaluates patient’s response to care provided and redirects care as necessary.

1. Formulates appropriate nursing diagnosis and identifies patient problems from admission data base and ongoing assessment.

2. Establishes patient outcome goals that are realistic, specific, measurable, and progressive.

3. Develops and implements nursing order which are specific and measurable.

4. Initiates interdisciplinary communications and incorporates recommendations.

5. Consults with patient and family and others to formulate care plans that reflect concern for holistic patient needs.

6. Assesses and evaluates patient-response/outcome and makes appropriate modifications on the care plan.

7. Reviews and updates the care plan on a timely basis to reflect patient’s current status throughout hospitalization.

C. Implements and monitors appropriate nursing care to meet patient’s needs and identifies expected outcome for planned nursing intervention and ensures vital information is passed between shifts.

1. Administers medications and according to policy including IV’s, IVPB’s, blood and blood components as prescribed by physicians.

2. Knows actions, indications, and contraindications, precautions, adverse reactions, dosage and route of administration on all drugs before administering to patient.

3. Verifies medication administration record for accuracy and performs the required checks on the medication administration record.

4. Monitors all blood transfusions after started by the Registered Nurse and notifies Registered Nurse of any IV push medications to be administered.

5. Gives exchange report to other health care personnel providing accurate and complete information on each patient at the change of shift, when transferring patient to another unit, and at intervals during the shift.

6. Assesses patients at the beginning of shift for acuity of patient needs/problems and based on the assessment, establishes priority in which work activities are consistently completed by the end of shift.

7. Performs basic nursing skills competently to include but not limited to: intake and output, vital signs, urine testing, specimens/cultures, dressing changes, neurological assessments, personal hygiene for patient, skin care, glucose monitoring, airway/suctioning, basic oxygen administration, nasogastric tubes, tube feedings, urinary catheterization, drains, enemas, and intravenous catheterization.

8. Recognizes, evaluates and intervenes appropriately in a life-threatening situation.

9. Recognizes variances of diagnostic tests, vital signs and assessments that should be reported to the physician. Notify the physician in a time frame appropriate to the variance.

10. Functions proficiently in unit nursing modalities.

11. Consistently checks for new patients orders throughout the shift and implements them in an appropriate time frame.

D. Participates in the health care educational needs for the client family, and others with regard to patient care needs, disease prevention and health maintenance measures.

1. Develops and implements individualized teaching and discharge plan at admission and throughout hospitalization.

2. Initiates and documents progressive patient, family, or significant other teaching on admission and throughout hospitalization.

3. Act as a liaison between patient, physician, family, significant other, and other health disciplines.

E. Maintains accurate and timely records according to hospital policy and procedures.

1. Documents ongoing assessments, within time frame determined by policy which accurately reflects over physiological and psychosocial needs of patient.

2. Accurately documents on each shift the patient activities and the patient response to nursing interventions and delegated medical management.

3. Maintains a patient care plan that is current and reflects individual needs and preferences of patients.

4. Documents teaching completed and patient and family response in the patient record.

5. Documents interdisciplinary recommendations for plan of care.

6. Transcribes and or cosigns physician orders completely and accurately according to hospital policy and practice.

7. Completes all appropriate transfer and discharge forms.

F. OTHER SIGNIFICANT REQUIREMENTS:

A. Maintains HIPAA required and all other confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis.

B. Provides service direct to patients while maintain a positive patient relations atmosphere.

C. Interacts with patients, family members, Medical Staff members and other department managers on a continuous basis.
