Cardiopulmonary Services

At Jackson Healthcare Center, we perform many of the same services and tests associated with hospitals much larger than us.  The nice things about getting your tests done with us include seeing familiar faces, not having to get stressed about driving in a congested or unfamiliar area, no parking garages and fees to worry about, and if you are required to spend time in the hospital you are close to family and friends.  Since being in familiar surroundings keeps the stress factor down, you often recover much quicker.

Some of the tests we perform are –

  • EKG – When an EKG is performed, we are tracing the electrical activity of your heart.  The EKG can identify irregularities in your heartbeat.  It can tell us if a heart attack is happening or has happened in the past.

  • Holter Monitor – The patient wears a monitor for 24 hours where heart activity is constantly monitored.  It can give us a good idea of your heart’s function and how your heart is operating over time.  This helps us to diagnose any abnormalities, and then we can look at possible treatments.

  • Stress Testing – A stress test lets us see how your heart is functioning while under load.  You are placed on a treadmill in a controlled environment, and monitored as you exercise.

  • EEG – An EEG traces the electrical activity of the brain.

  • Blood Pressure Monitor – Continuous monitoring and recording of your blood pressure over a period of 24-48 hours.

  • Sleep Studies - Do you suffer from restless leg syndrome, the inability to go to sleep and stay asleep, the inability to fall asleep, or snoring? Sleep studies are conducted right here at the hospital. Generally, a patient will arrive in the evening and spend the night in a hospital bed where state-of-the-art equipment is used to monitor sleep patterns. Monitoring sleep patterns helps in diagnosing various sleep disorders. You will be able to go home early in the morning following your sleep study..

At Jackson Healthcare Center a team approach is used to make sure the very best treatment is used to treat your breathing difficulties.  The team involves you, your physician, nurses, and us as the therapists.  Department Director is Debbie McClennan, CRT. Back
