Description: JCHD is partnering with Southbrooke Manor to provide Community Bingo on the second Wednesday of each month from noon to 2 p.m. A light lunch will be served and prizes provided to all bingo winners.

Event: Basics of Diabetes Management Class
Location: Jackson County Hospital Conference Room
Description: Come learn the basics of diabetes management at our classes held in the Jackson County Hospital Conference Room. This educational class is led by Dr. Diana Mercado, a board certified family physician who specializes in diabetes and diabetes management. Visit with our team of healthcare specialists, including: pharmacists, social workers, nurses and dietitians. Registration is required. Call 361-782-7820 to register to attend.

Event: Heartsaver CPR and First Aid
Location: Jackson County Hospital Conference Room
Description: Presented by Buster Chase This class, designed for the general public or professionals dealing with young children, will equip you with basic first aid and CPR skills. Held in the Jackson County Hospital Conference Room. Registration Fee: $45* Register by calling: 361-782-7800. Please note that this class does not cover the advanced instruction needed for healthcare providers. Class begins at 6:30 PM

Event: Stroke Support Group
Location: JCHD Conference Room
Description: A structured yet informal hour to connect and share stories between stroke survivors their family and their caregivers. Periodic guest speakers to address specific needs of stroke patients. Open forum for sharing common experiences and solutions between group members. Stroke Survivors and their family members/caregivers can expect to receive support in adjusting their lives and the unanticipated changes that occur due to a stroke. Sharing similar problems helps survivors learn to live with and thrive with the changes. Stroke support groups offer survivors, their caregivers and other family members chances to share concerns and support each other through every stage of the recovery process. Finding positive solutions by uniting through common experiences is a significant goal of this community stroke support meeting.

Description: Interested in learning Spanish? Our staff member, Laura Banda, will lead basic conversational Spanish classes on the third Friday of each month from noon to 1:00pm. Classes will take place in the JCHD Conference room. A light lunch will be provided. To RSVP call 361-782-7800

Event: Better Breathers Club
Location: Jackson County Hospital Conference Room
Description: The Better Breathers Club meets the last Tuesday of each month from noon to 1 p.m. in the Jackson County Hospital Conference Room. Those with lung disease and their loved ones are invited to attend. Lunch is provided at no charge, so please RSVP to help with lunch count by calling 361-782-7813 and ask for Rosemary or Sherri. RSVP is not required to attend the meeting but is required for lunch arrangements.
